About MotorCops for Kids

In 2002, the Garland and Grand Prairie Police Departments along with the Harley Owners Group – Dallas Chapter, teamed up to create the MotorCops for Kids Motorcycle Toy Run.  Since its inception seven years ago and through the hard work of many dedicated volunteers, MotorCops for Kids has raised over $376,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Galveston and Houston.  Over 14,500 toys have been collected, which are distributed to area charities and handed out to needy children at Christmas time.  MotorCops for Kids’ volunteers also participate in an annual food drive every December and hand deliver toys to several families on Christmas Eve each year.  Since it began, MotorCops for Kids has had over 24,000 motorcycles attend the toy run.

The toy run is an annual event held on the third Sunday of every November.  The motorcycle parade leaves from Dallas Harley Davidson and culminates at the Hella Shrine Temple in Garland.  MotorCops for Kids is escorted by members of the Garland Police Department’s Traffic and NPO Units and safety is the number one priority.  MotorCops for Kids hosts many activities in addition to the parade, including numerous door prizes, a silent auction, food, live music, and slow ride and obstacle course competitions for all riders and all motorcycle classes.  The dedicated support of the bikers has enabled MotorCops for Kids to help the Shriners Hospitals and kids at Christmas and evolve into one of the largest and most unique toy runs in the State of Texas and across the nation.

We appreciate your interest and hope to see you at this year’s event.
